Recently, I had a friend who had a routine physical exam. Like most people my friend was not thrilled about going to the doctor but nonetheless it had to be done. Every doctor visit she had before was ordinary. But this time was different.
A week after her visit she got a letter in the mail stating that the tests were not conclusive and they wanted to run more tests. What? How can this be? All of her doctor visits up until now have been uneventful and she had never even thought twice about them.
My friend immediately called to schedule a follow-up appointment. Fortunately, she was able to have the tests done that week. While she was waiting for her appointment day many thoughts ran through her mind. What if they find something? Is it treatable? How will this affect my family?
My friend thought about the life that she had lived so far and the impact that she had had on others. It made her realize that she was content with the life that she was living and how blessed she was to have such good people in her life. My friend came to the conclusion that IF the doctors do find something she would get through it; her family along with the support of friends, church and God.
The follow-up appointment came and they ran some more tests. My friend was sitting in the waiting room to get the results, and the nurse called her to go to a private room to talk to the doctor. When he came into the room he was all smiles, all the tests were A-OK. Whew, what a relief! My friend spent the rest of the day counting her many blessings. We all have a lot to be thankful for. Make a list of things you are thankful for today.
P.S. I’d love to hear about something that you are thankful for. Please email me.
